I have had this reel for over a year and it operates as well as it did day 1.Super smooth casting and awesome strength!It has some very nice tension adjustments for casting and also for the drag system.The reel feels great on the rod and in the hand.It is very lightweight which is a huge plus if you spend long hours on the water. I currently fish this reel on the Vengence line of rods and it is a perfect match but I just got my Villian delivered 2 days ago and it will find its new home atop that rod tomorrow!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great reel, owner's manual needs work

Great reel, like all ABU Garcia's, manual should include centrifugal pin adjustment directions or at least mention that it does exist.

I have fished quite a few reels throughout my years of fishing, but I must say that the Abu Garcia line of Revos is by far the best. I purchased my first Revo about 3 years ago, and still fish that same reel today. I expect a reel to last through the rigors of a tough day on the water, and Abu Garcia are by far the most durable. I have since then switched to all Abu Garcia, and paired them with Veritas (another great product from Abu). I have so many good things today, that I could probably make this into a novel, but I will end it here. Overall, you can't go wrong. Abu for Life!

I now have Two STX's...one of the older , flat handle, and one of the new swept handle 7.1. AWESOME...AWESOME...I fish steelhead and salmon from the bank in the PNW in Washington State. I have had two occations where guys casting spinning reels ask me.."how are you casting farther than me with a level wind?"....then I show them the magic.
I sold my Shimano curado to buy my fist STX. The drag is WAY better...the reel is smoother and stronger.
I also have a Toro 51 for larger salmon and steelhead for the line capacity. Love the Revos...CAN'T go wrong. Wait longer and save up if you have to. Don't settle...this reel will last you a lifetime. Nuff said. Steelhead Nation NWWC...out.

Little signs of the dramatic use...
I have now had the Abu Garcia Revo STX for just over a complete season of use and together we caught and fought over 150 Stripers with most just going over the 10-12 pound mark. Of course there was also a sprinkle of Larger stripers with the best being in the 20(33 Inches) pound class range. I have enjoyed the durability of the reel and the security the 18 pounds of drag it exerts(I have the High speed model) on the fish to stop them. I have now started to ocean fish and the same Abu Garcia Revo STX is right there with me for salt water duties. I have been catching leopard sharks off the beach with it and have now brought in just over 10 large sharks. Thank you Abu Garcia for making fine products.
