The Revo STX was an impulse buy for me. I have been a loyal user of Abu Garcia products for many years now but I never thought I would spend $200.00 on a reel. I now am willing to spend the extra money on reels. The Revo STX is the best real I have ever used. Casting is extremely smooth, maintenance is relatively easy once you get the hang of it, and it feels great in your hand. The ergonomics make it easy to fish an entire day with no hassles. I have now purchased other reels around the same price range and nothing compares to Abu Garcia's quality. There is no comparison!

The Revo STX-HS shows why it's the best, hands down, AGAIN. Went out late yesterday afternoon and, on my very last cast of the evening (6:50pm EST), I hooked into a fish that faught like it was much bigger. Turned out to be a very fat, big-headed largemouth. Pictures say a thousand words, or so I'm told so take a gander at this one... an old fish that faught like it was three times bigger than it was and the REVO STX-HS handled it like it was nothing! He was only 4lbs but he faught like he was at least 12lbs.
I currently have MY Revo STX-HS matched to a Shakespear Ugly Stik (I'm saving my pennies for a Vendetta or a Veritas!) and spooled with 15# Vicious Fluorocarbon. The largemouth was caught on a 5/16oz Sexy Shad popper. The Revo cast that 5/16oz popper like it was something a lot heavier with absolutely NO problem. Bird's nest... what's that? With the Revo STX-HS, they're so rare, I'm spoiled!
Abu Garcia... proven quality and never a compromise!
I would recommend this to a friend!

My Papa (grandpapa) got me started using Abu Garcia way back in the 1960s when I was smaller than knee-high to a grasshopper. I am now 51 and have never had a single issue with any of Abu's products. As such, I shouldn't have been surprised with the performance of my first ever Revo STX-HS reel.
I recently started fishing in local bass tournaments and have been using Abu reels almost exclusively. My go-to reel that I refer to as my baby is a 5500 C3 2-speed that my mother had given me a couple of years before she passed away. It has NEVER failed me and has made many outtings a success when they appeared to be turning into fruitless days... UNTIL NOW!
I fished in my first real bass tourney back in August. I had just purchased the Revo STX-HS the day before the tourney and wasn't familiar with the rod but tried using it anyway. My biggest issue was getting adjusted to the different style of reel. Other than my 5500 (mentioned above), I do have a Black Max and a couple of Abu Garcia spinning rods. My first tourney wasn't exactly what one would call a success but I did learn a few things about tournament fishing and my new reel.
Last month, I fished in my second tourney and man, what a difference the STX made! I had learned much about the reel and can tell you that I now have a new "go-to" reel!
I caught my first fish of the day around 8:30 or 9:00am using a spinning reel and spent most of the rest of the day trying different styles based on the advice of the boater I was fishing with (I don't have my own boat, YET). By 2:00pm, I had not landed any more fish and was getting desperate. We had a 3:35pm weight-in and I had one VERY small fish. Giving the time and the bad weather moving in, I decided to try the STX-HS. Man do I regret not having done so earlier!
I have my STX-HS spooled with 12lb Vicious Flouro. After trying several other baits, I tied on a 5/16oz diving bait and the surprises came flooding in.
First, the Revo STX-HS with it's finely tuneable drag & brake system had absolutely NO problems casting that 5/16oz lure. Second, the sensitivity of the reel to the rod/line/lure combination proved to be deadly. In 1 (ONE) hour, I not only caught a limit of fish but I went from potentially finishing up near last to placing 6th out of a field of 14 non-boaters (co-anglers) and about 10th or 11th overall out of a field of 28 total anglers.
I can say with extreme prejuidice that if I had not been using the Revo STX-HS, what turned out to be a very good ending to a frustrating day on the water would not have been possible... in fact, it would have been dismal to say the least!
THANK YOU Abu Garcia! Not only have you given me a heritage which includes many happy and fond memories spent fishing with my Papa but, you have continued producing excellent rods & reels which make these experiences both fun and unforgettable! Given the quality you have always produced, I know I shouldn't be surprised but you have taken the best and made it better... yet again, you have raised the bar!

I owned all shimano curados until I bought this reel and I have been blown away! Smooth as silk and can outcast my curados by a mile! At first I wanted to but the drag to the test by flippin and pitchin with 65lb braid and I was able to horse in a few 4lbers with ease.. the reel cast just as great with light fluorcarbon and weightless plastics. The only problem I have is when I unscrewed the spool tension off i had a ring pop off but I was able to put it back in and it was good as new.. After a month of using this reel I am switching to abu!
