I've only been using baitcasters for a couple of years, but so far this is the best I've used. It is ROCK SOLID, just feels like it will last forever. But it also casts incredibly well, with few backlashes. The spool cast knob and the drag star both have audible click adjustments, and the bearings are super smooth. In my opinon the only way to get a better reel is to upgrade to the Premier. Otherwise, this is the best there is.

I went through an exhaustive search looking for the best Baitcasting reel for the money last year and part of the previous year. I was fairly new to Baitcasters and really didn't know what I wanted, needed, or what was the best value for the money.
After using 8 different models, from multiple manufacturers, I settled on the Revo STX. I now use them almost exclusively and I could not be happier with my choice. Great casting ability, feels great in my hands, excellent drag, easy brake adjustments, and I have not had a single problem with any of them.
I use them for Bass, Walleye, Pike and even Musky. I highly recommend them for all your baitcasting needs. Dollar for dollar, I have not found a better reel out there!

I had frequented my local retailer for the ABU Garcia rods and reels looking for one of the Winch reels and matching rod. Well I got to looking at the Revo STX and decided that for the little extra money I could have the STX, which I matched with a 7' 3" MH Vendetta. Being vertically challenged (5'9") the shorter rod works well for me while pitching and skipping docks. I love throwing that jig. Any way the STX right out of the box with one or two adjustments casts like a dream. I like to skip those jigs under docks, etc. and the STX never missed a beat. I love this reel. So now I'm going to be selling my Curados and some unnamed HIGH dollar rods and buying me some new Revos and Vendettas.

When I first saw the price on this reel, I thought that there was no was that I could justify it. I have been fishing Abu-Garcia reels for 50 years and am a diehard fan, but I'm a teacher, so the idea of spending this much on a reel was unthinkable. After all, I've been very content fishing C3s and Tornos for years. However, I went to a tackle show and had a chance to hold the STX. Three turns of the reel handle was all it took to convince me that this was going to be my next reel. The reel winds as if the gears are running in warm butter. I actually had to crank down on the settings until I learned how to cast with so little friction.I can actually get an extra 15 or 20 yards per cast when compared to my other reels. I have summers off from work and I fish 6 days a week, mostly crankbaits and spinnerbaits, so my reels get a workout. After 4 years, my STX has not required any repairs. All it needs is an occasional oiling. The drag is smooth and strong. It's an awesome reel and worth every penny.
