My second Abu Garcia Baitcast reel and it is awesome. I bought the 8:1 high speed revo3 stx and the retrieval speed is just what I wanted. As with my other Abu it feels solid and casts forever. Yes, they dont really tell you how to adjust the centrifugal brakes well but having owned other baitcast reels they are similar. If anyone cares to know, theres a small silver hand screw on the right side of the reel towards the top of the spool that connects to a pin/bar across the front of the spool, unscrew that and pull on it (spring loaded). While holding the pin outward, twist the entire left side casing of the reel (where the mag brake dial is) downward or counter clockwise and then pull it straight out. Theres 6 red little tabs that adjust the centrifugal brake, they should all be pressed inward (towards the center) in the off position. I pressed three of them outward to start and it seems to be a good starting point. Once you get good this will cast as far as you need it to, happy fishing!

Got this reel about 3 months ago and I love it! It cast like you wouldn't believe and it is so extremely smooth! I would recommend this reel to everyone! I loved it so much I got a second one the other week! Overall fantastic reel!

I have the Revo3 SX and wow, this upgrade was a big performance difference. The Revo3 STX HS-Left Hand, this thing is amazing. Others complain about the casting distance being poor ( IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT SETTING UP YOUR BRAKES CORRECTLY!!!). Took me only 8-10 cast to fine tune the brakes. From there, I can cast a 3/8 jig head to CHINA!!! Lol, you got the picture. Fine tuning means further casting distance. Not only that, it is really smooth right out the box. However, I do HIGHLY recommend greasing and lubing it before putting it to use (YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW LONG ITS BEEN ON THE SHELF BEFORE YOU PURCHASED IT). Overall, really pleased with my new Revo3 STX HS-Left Hand Baitcast from Abu Garcia. Went kayak fishing on Pike opener last Saturday and landed some really nice Northerns. The STX handled the fight without issues. Can't wait for Bass opener, SEE YOU OUT THERE!

The casting distance is pathetic. This is by far the worst reel I have ever owned and I would recommend anyone buying a reel to stay away from the Revo STX. The fish would need to be within netting distance for this reel to be effective.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
