What has a tight, firm, smooth, wonderful body with great curves and feels simply amazing in your hands? .... Hmmmm, if you guessed a Revo SX low profile baitcasting reel then you'd be right.
The Revo SX is absolutely the best performing, best balanced, and best looking reel you can possibly buy at this price point. Fishing reels get absolutely abused by getting dropped in the boat, dunked in the lake, rained on, baked in the sun, crammed into rod lockers, stepped on, kicked around, and act as collection areas for all of the grime that clings to your line cast after cast reeled in and then deposited around the level wind and worm gear ... and most fishermen rarely take the time to properly clean and maintain their reels. However, when you roll with Abu Garcia you're rolling with gear that is engineered to withstand the rigors of bass fishing and excel. There's been a bunch of great reviews on this reel already. I'll just add that I've been a lifelong Team Diawa user, but they really don't offer anything I think competes with this reel at this price point. Now that I've been using this for a while, I'm going to be an AVID Abu user from here on out. I've got a spare rod I may even get a Pro Max for. Bottom line, this reel is awesome and casts and retrieves like butter. And the size of it feels good in the hand.. I will say, stay away from the Vendetta rod though. I was looking at getting one because it matches the SX and I dropped it in the store and about the last foot of the rod snapped clean off. I paired this with a TFO Gary Loomis signature 6'6" MH and could not be happier with my Revo.

I have been trophy bass fishing my whole life and have had every brand and model reel you can imagine. I fish three full days a week and all i can say is I'm HOOKED on Abu Garcia!!! I bought the REVO SX-HS a little over a week and was stunned by the low price? so i asked to see the box it comes in from behind the counter. As i was reading i realized that this reel had everything on it. This weekend i took it out and strung it with fluorocarbon, then put it on the already great Abu VERITAS rod(which by the way is amazing) and off i went. Over the course of the first two days i caught over 30 largemouth bass. The bass were ranging from 1-4 pounds and the reel handled amazing, very smooth. Now like many of you I always want to know how a reel is going to handle with real weight on it! well...I got to find out!! I caught a 7 1/4 pound a 6 1/2 pound and another 6 pounder. All i can say is WOW this reel will pull trophy bass with ease, never once backlashed, casts extremely far and to make it better i stripped it in less than a minute. I am going to post a picture with this post of the 7 1/4 pounder that came gliding in because of this amazing reel. If you are thinking about buying this reel, it will be worth every penny you spend I Promise!!!

This is one solid reel. I drift fishing mostly here in BC Canada. I used to use abu round reels a lot. Don't get me wrong, I love them but it's just too heavy for me after a day of casting. The revo sx is light, and small. It's not as cold as the round ones made of metal if you palm it for whole day hunting for winter run steelhead. It's got stronger drag yet more than enough line capacity!
Just don't let the size and weight fool you! Thanks Abu for such a quality and affordable product!

I have been fishing with a Garcia since I was a teenager in about 1967 starting with the 5000 and now use the Revo Sx HS; 5600CB and Black Max. In 45 years I have owned 10-12 Garcia reels; some I still have and loved all of them. Thanks for a great product! I have never lost a fish due to reel problems.

I have to disagree with anyone that has a problem with abu Garcia's quality i bought the revo sx gen2 about 3 years ago never took care of it and it still worked great i just learned how to take apart baitcasters and i did one side at a time and it was easy that thing was so disgusting and grimy i dont believe it still worked that good now that its cleaned and lubed it works better
Then the day i bought it abu should work for the military cuz they build freakin tanks as far as the button not working properly i understand you spend that kind of money you expect perfection but sometimes you get one with a slight problem if you learn to take apart a reel you can fix stuff like that in no time but it stinks when someone says im done with abu garcia cuz other people see that and might pass on the smoothest toughest sexiest reel they'll ever own and no i dont have any affiliation with the company just someone who knows an amazing product when i fish one keep up the excellent work guys ABU 4 LIFE

This reel would have been one of the best I've owned, but the thumb bar doesn't engage when I reel. I'm fairly sure this isn't as uncommon as Abu Garcia would have us believe as I've read of at least 2 others with this same problem. I'm reluctant to give this reel 3 stars because it's definitely a 5 star reel, it's just that I expect a reel to work properly when I spend upwards of $150 on it. Other than this single issue, the reel is excellent. What bothers me the most though is that Abu Garcia expects me to pay to ship the defective reel to them (the reel is new and I used it once before realizing it had a problem). I hope this isn't the case or I won't be purchasinng Abu Garcia products in the future.

I have this reel mounted on a Vendetta rod. THIS IS AN AMAZING SETUP!!!!I I totally recomend this product 100%....
however if your fishing salt/brakish water, you need to clean this reel extremely good with water... usually i just hose my reels down lightly and im done. But this reel i really have to spray down good...... maybe im the only one but i find that this reel corrodes very easily! other wise this reel has great cast abillity. and paird with a 6,6 med vendetta its basicly bulletproof!!!!!

The reel is designed to be extremely corrosion resistant but for freshwater Abu does make i real designed for salt water but this is primarily for freshwater. If you are usually fishing salt-brackish water try the Revo inshore a friend of mine has one and he still brags about it whenever we go to the Gulf of Mexico.

I had 2 of the gen2 revo's and was not happy at all. Sold them and stuck with my curado's and chronarch. When I seen the new gen 3 revo's i decided to give them one more go. I have only had it for a month. But have given it a bit of a work out on some Aussie bass in fresh water. And trevally in saltwater. So far I could not be happier. It is very soft and smooth on retrieve. And has a good drag. It is a great little reel all round. I found it to be as nice to use as my much more expensive shimano core 100mg. The only thing I would look at changing if I where abu. Is replacing some of the plastic in the casting mech back to some stainless even if it adds a couple of grams in weight. But in saying that I have had no probs as yet. Will just have to see if they stand the test of time like there shimano counterparts. I have now just ordered the stx. So I hope I am as happy with that as I am the sx. Well done abu a big step up from the previous model in my opinion.

This reel is the first reel I have ever used that made me smile. I was so impressed with the quality that I felt in my hand. Casting was a absolute pleasure. It was so quiet. Casting and retrieving made me feel in control of any weight of lure I decided to use. No slack in the handle, it is solid as a rock. It doesn't have the extra magnets for the end of the cast that has been brought out in the past few years. But, it is almost beyond words just how nice it is. Be conscious of setting your reel to the weight of the lure and backlashes are seldom if any at all. So all I can say is, buy the best reel on the market under $50 and get this beauty.

just bought this real and went to try it.
At the beginning was everything excelent but after 1 hour
had a problem just like "Roger" has.
After I cast, i have to round handle knob 2-3 times to make thumb bar up.

I've just recently received the new generation revo as a gift about two months ago. I'm fairly new to the baitcasting scene but sometimes when I'm done casting my lure, I have to turn turn the handle 2-3 revolutions in order to snap the thumb bar plate back up. Is that normal?
I've tried other baitcasters before and I've never had this problem until now. I was hoping on catching something before Winter but I guess it'll have to wait.

This reel can be used for any situation. I have flipped, pitched, cast and even trolled with it. Pulled in some great bass and it is still holding strong. I do not have a complaint about this reel. I have never really been a baitcast fan untill this reel, but now have told the wife that i'm going to get the MGX just to see how much better it can get. Have collected 4 of these and will be getting more as I sale the rest of my shimano and daiwa reels off. Abu Garcia makes great products with prices to match. Thanks and keep it up.

I've had the revo sx gen 3 since it has came out and have been fishing it in the Chesapeake Bay and it has handled 30 inch stripers very well! Great drag system, light weight and very smooth! I just ordered 2 more! I'm pairing them with Powell max rods!

All i have to say is if you can land a 29 pound sturgon and mutipule 5+ pound smallmouth and largemouth bass with eas with out a reel brakeing under presuer its the revo sx !!!

this is my first baitcaster reel, although I've used friends previously... i gotta say, my buddies spend big $$ on Lews & Pfeulefer etc but they can't touch my Abu!! Loving this reel. Need to buy a 2nd one for a Veritas MH rod i picked up. One question i have is, with this 2012 reel being so good, WHY change it in 2013??

Many years ago I bought the revo sx as my second baitcasting reel, the performance is phenomenal. This reel can cast any lure with any weight and sizes easy, retreiving is ultra smooth, the 11 ball bearings really does its job. put this reel on my vendetta rod makes it very balanced and comfortable combo, I love the ACS reelseat on the vendetta with softtouch, it feels like its made from heaven, also you wont even notice you're holding a 8.9oz reel, it just feel so light, so smooth. and I already recommended many of my fishing buddies to buy it, and they told me they really loving it. right now I only use Abu garcia products, currently Im having 2 Revo MGX, 2 STX, 3 SXs, and a revo elite IB,(P.S. Im not sure the new version of the revo sx with the new brake would change the casting performance of the reel, the linear magnetic brake is very precise with little ajustment, but we'll see)

i bought the revo sx left hand id have to say its one of the best reels Ive ever owned i have the verdict rod with it also an excellent product i have a few other bait casters but abu Garcia is the best i have owed it cast a mile reels in so smooth n whips up on the big fish just caught a huge northern pike with it today was a blast catching him with my revo will not go anywhere else for a bait caster thank you abu garcia

I have purchased 3 of the REVO'S. 2SXHS & 1 SX. Straight out of the box it took very little adjustments to cast a mile. I can't wait for the next generation to come out.

This reel is absolutely amazing for the price. It casts farther and smoother than any other reel I've ever used. It's also quite easy to take apart and keep in pristine condition. When I first used this reel I had my doubts on whether or not it could perform very well but I was soon hauling fish out of cover with ease. If you're looking for a reasonably priced reel that performs great in all aspects then buy the Revo SX.
