First off, I love the Revo S. It looks great, it's smooth as can be, it's relatively light, and it casts a mile. At $129 it's a steal. I had 2 constant issues with mine that just killed the experience for me, and led me to just return it and get a different reel. The first issue was with the spool not engaging after a cast. I exchanged the reel, and the issue never popped up with the new one. The second issue is with the breaking system. After some use, the brake blocks you set in the OFF position will turn themselves ON during a cast. This is very annoying, and kills the casting distance. This issue was present in the older Revo S and has sadly not been corrected for the new S. I still recommend this reel, but if you see your casting distance go in the tank, check to see if any extra brake blocks have turned themselves on.

I received the Revo S a few days ago from B.A.S.S. I opened it, spooled it with 17lb mono, and hit the pond, 10 minutes in, I caught a 7lb bass, the feel, weight, and how smooth the reel is a key thing to catching fish, and this exceeds all by far, great product, and I know it will hold up for longer

Great reel. My favorite by far. Used a few times without a problem. The drag system on my last outing failed. While cranking the spool will not turn if there is a slightest amount of pressure on the line. So needless to say, I couldn't even reel in a medium sized bass. Im sure Abu Garcia will fix it for me but a little annoyed that I cant used the reel for a while.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I upgraded to this from my Mag XL Plus, which I loved. This reel is very versatile, good all around gear ratio, very smooth, comfortable, casts great and looks good. I am glad I upgraded to this reel. For the price, you can't go wrong.

You will see various reviews I share on ABU product pages. I do this, due to the young people I constantly come in contact with that ask me questions on the water about why I fish, or use all ABU reels/rods. I have fished some 40+ years, I have always been dedicated to ABU and will remain so. With this said, go get a ABU Revo S, you will love it. For the price, you also won't beat it! Enjoy

Would like to ask about the centrifugal brake system on the revo s low profile bait caster.
Just want more info on what settings to use in what conditions.
Can you use all six at once. Can you use a variety of both pitch and none pitch settings.
Any additional info would be much appreciated.

I just got mine and I put 65lb braid on it and wow it casts great and feels great. I'm new to using baitcasters and I love this one! I started out with an older black max with the flipping switch on it and I never looked back. Abu is a great comp.

I broke down and purchased the new 3rd Gen Revo S and put it through the paces this past weekend. Being the owner of many of the Abu Garcia reels (last count 14) I am totally impressed.
I was totally surprised at the smoothness of the reel. I expected it to be noisier like my Skeet Reese and Lew's. (both good reels) But found it to cast smoother and reel with ease. No backlashes although I usually start out tight at first. As I loosened it up a bit the distance increased and still no backlash problems. I give it a "5" for Smoothness for sure.
Next although not fair, I compared it side by side with my MGX. Well, similar like going from the Olds to Caddy. The MGX outshone the "S", but hey, over twice the money...it better. "5" for price effectiveness.
And... the color match to my Veritas rod was impressive. I also like something that looks good too. "5" for appealability.
Would I recommend it to my friends... well... NO... I would have to say you won't be happy until you have 2 of them with different setups/line weights etc.

Overall.. 100% a Happy Camper. FOR LIFE!

I can't say enough about the new Revo S. This thing is buttery smooth, casts a mile, the braking system is flawless and allows for a lot of customization out on the water. Pair this with the Veritas micro guide series and you have one mean looking, and deadly combo out on the water. Abu Garcia really created a gem with the new Revo S, so much so that I like it better than my Gen 3 STX! Buy this!

Every so often there comes a product that you purchase and after using it, all you want to do is tell everyone how great it is and show it off. The new Revo S by Abu Garcia is just that product.
My new Revo S arrived earlier this week from Bass Pro. As with all reels, they were shipped over lubed in just about every area. After a good bearing flushing, cleaning and lubing back up I was ready to go. Don't be worried about your reel being over lubed. Most if not all reels from the factory are lubed this way as most people will never oil or lube them. Flushing the bearings will give you just a slight better increase in distance at best.
I have several other Abu reels, but never used the Revo S with pitch/centrifugal breaking system. The owners manual was really no help at all. Its the same manual that they put in every Abu reel. Going to their website or a simple You Tube search, will give you all the help you need. After adjusting the spool control knob to the correct setting, I decided on going for distance by turning all 3 pitch brakes off and just two of the magnetic breaks on. After getting it dialed in just right I was having a blast. The Revo comes in a 6.4:1 gear ratio and has 26 inches per turn. The 6.4:1 is a great all around ratio for plastics and jigs. Also this reel has 20 pounds of drag. The Carbon drag system is very smooth and very strong. 8 ball bearings makes this a very smooth reel to operate.
I have this reel paired with my Abu Veritas 7' medium/fast micro guide rod. I am using 30# braid. A lot of times, braid can rob you of distance during a cast, but with a small 2.5" popr, it throws it a mile! I barely have to use my thumb during a cast. I am so impressed with this reel. I have noticed that its somewhat noisier than my other Abu reels during a cast, but I can't see how it affects operation at all. The new Revo S has an upgraded set of D2 gears. I can't tell a difference in smoothness, but I can tell a difference when winching a bass out of the grass. Feels like it has more power and low end torque. The new Revo's come with wider spools and are super low in profile. They also have bent handles and bent drag stars to put your hand in closer to the reel. This reel being so light weight and low profile is a dream to fish with all day. Working a popr all day can get really tiresome with a heavy combo. I fished over 6 hours for 3 days straight using this and feel no fatigue at all.
This reel is super light weight. I have reel grips and a full spool of braid. The reel weighs in at just 7.8 ounces. That paired with my Micro Guide rod at 4.2 ounces gives me an over all weight of 12 ounces for a complete top water rig.
The look of the reel paired with the black and white Veritas rod is just amazing. Make sure you see the pictures of the rig attached.
I have fished this reel very hard so far and have had no issues at all. Abu quality at its finest. I have two Revo STX Gen 2's and honestly have had more fun fishing my Revo S lately that those two. Give this Revo S a shot. If its your first Abu, it wont be your last.

i got this "revo" about 8 months ago thinking it would perform as a revo normally does for me . i wanted a versatile reel for every day use . 1 st time out after lubing the bearings with the oil provided from the factory and following the directions it wouldnt cast 30 yards without the bearings screaming for mercy . then i used a high end lube for it and worked better but i need to lube this thing literally every other time i go out with it . i like the reel and how it feels but i wish they would upgrade the bearing game .
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

You can maximize your casting distance by disengaging the 3 non-spring loaded blocks. However, all Abu Garcia reels carry a one year warranty. Thank you Mike b for letting us know of some of your difficulties. Helps us to get the kinks out. My Revo S is great. I adjusted my breaking system while on the water and found it to be a big help and hope you find the same. btw , I had to do the same with my MGX. Now it is awesome. :o)

This revo s Is the the best baitcaster I have it is so smooth and strong I've pulled in anywhere from 5 lb bass fresh/salt water to 30 lb rays I fish 30 pound power pro and it's amazing I had a yellowtail on and the drag still held up to the power of that fish bestt reeelll Ever!!!!!!!!

this revo reel is one of the most fun reels i own a 125$ is well worth it this reel i very smooth and makes it very easy for long time fishing and slow or fast reeling. if you have never owned a baitcaster but you want a good reel but dont want to buy the more expensive stuff as a starter this is a great reel becuse it is the same as all other revos in design but less expensive and flashy in most cases i love it and is much easyer to cast than a spinning reel

Quality reel at a great price. I have had no problems with these reels and with routine cleaning revo's will last for years. I have been hooked on Abu Garcia products since I was a kid getting backlashes in my dads old Garcia 5000, which I still use today as my catfish reel.

Great real, the Revo line up is very good quality. This real is the least expensive and preforms like a top of the line reel. With the proper maintenance, this reel should last you a while. The Braking system is Amazing! Cant wait to get my Winch.

I have owned Abu Garcia reels since i started bass fishing back in the 80's. I have 7 revo's on Wright and McGill rods and i wouldnt trade them for anything!One of my revo's will have its 6th birthday this year and nothing has ever been done to it other than an occasional cleaning. Great reels and they last!

I am a Very expericenced fishermen i have been fishing for a little over 15 Years. i have seen a lot of good reels come and go. But the REVO S is by far the best reel on the market i love it. i have caught over 500 largemouth, over 300 Stripers and countless other fish on this reel it is a onne of a kind reel absoulty perfect.

This was my first Abu Garcia and haven't went back to another brand since. A great reel to learn on. Easy to use, light, had it for 3+ years and with only yearly cleaning and oiling, it should last for many more. Start here and you won't be disappointed.

I went African tigerfishing. 6 days of propper torture. Made about 2000 casts that week.. and pulled out about 100lbs of tiger fish all in all.. This is by far the strongest freshwater fish pound-for-pound. It's fighting ability is about the same as a Dorado. Exept there is no fish of that size that hits a lure with that much force. Check the pic!
The 24lb drag of the revo s makes it perfect for stopping strong fish like that.

ok i am 14 years old but one of them among the best i recieved this reel for Christmas of 2011 it was my very first revo . I was very satisfied with the smoothness of this reel it was smooth enough that their is no crick the reel but not smooth to where their waas no pull i looked at the sx, and stx they stretches to where when u would get around to the fifth rotation u would feel a bumb in the mechanism when reeling . Before this reel i owned the Black max which i recieved when was 8 it was a tremendous starter baitcasting reel for me i loved it caught a 10 pound largemouth bass off of it. so i recogmend this reel to any body purchasing their first revo.

Buy far the worst baitcaster I've ever had in 35 yrs. of useing baitcasters this reel is the worst,side plate fell off and was losr,thumb bar broke and had to super clue it back tobether and now the line guide is sticking on the right side when reeling it in and all the line stays on the right side so now it's totally useless, a waist of $140.00 and it's only 2 yrs old!
