With a 6.4:1 gear ratio and 24 lbs of drag, the revo S is ideal for close combat with fish of all sizes. I spool my revo S with braid for pitching and flipping into heavy grass. It is a really good reel.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can't beat this reel for smooth operation and long casts. Great reel for the price.

Whether you fish for fun, weekend tournaments or you are a highly dedicated competitive angler like me...the REVO S is up to the task. The drag is strong and feeds evenly. The ability to adjust the drag on the fly with the star drag is flawless. As far as castability, I have used this reel for everything from braided line to light plastics to swimbaits. Performance has not wavered in any instance.
I have tested the reel in both fresh and salt water conditions, catching fish from Largemouth Bass to Leopard Sharks. The confidence you have when you hook into a challenging fish is unparalleled in its class. As long as you maintain this reel, it will last many years and land memories that last even longer!! Maintenance is effortless with the ease of which the reel provides access to all of its moving parts. I highly recommend this reel to ANY angler! You can spend more money if you like, but this reel flat out gets it done!
The Revo S was the reel that I used to build my first baitcasting setup last spring. I paired it with a BassPro CarbonLite MH rod.
I am happy to say this reel is everything I could ask for in a baitcasting reel. It's super smooth, east to cast and is built tough. I use it primarily for pitchin' jigs and fishing texas-rigged plastics.
I see no reason to buy a more expensive reel when the Revo S is everything it needs to be in an all-purpose baitcaster at a great value. The quality of the Abu Garcia Revo S has now spurred me to purchase a couple Vendetta rods as well - which by the way are awesome rods!
The only reason I gave "ease of maintenance" a 4-star rating is because I've never been very fond of taking apart reels to give them a good cleaning. Abu, would be nice if you added reel cleaning techniques for all of the reels you have on the market.
