Smooth reel but one serious flaw

all too common problem on the Orra, Revo S, Revo SX
I personally have been through three of these reels and two Revo S's. The reels are comfortable, cast great, and are super smooth. However, on all of the above mentioned reels, after less than one month of use, the pawl and worm gear had to be replaced. I own a reel repair shop and I have had to replace countless pawls and worm gears on the Orra, Revo S and Revo SX. As a matter of fact I have an Orra SX on my work bench right now with this exact problem and the parts are not available so my customer will have to wait until Abu gets these parts in stock. The last time I ordered these parts for a Revo S, it took over a month. Obviously this is a common issue. If Abu could fix this issue on these reels, they would be unbeatable. The Revo STX never has this problem due to its coated worm gear and pawl.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have 10 Revo s reels...and have never had a problem with any of them. I clean my reels 2x a year. I have not tried the Orra series yet...but I am planning to soon. Before I bought my 1st Revo...I was only a Shimano man...but that was before I found out that I could buy 2 or 3 Revo S reels to every 1 Shimano reel and they fish every bit as good if not better than the Shimanos. These are the only reels I have ever seen go up in price and people still buy them because they know they are well worth it. So...until someone comes out with a reel that is better for the price...I will remain a REVO man for life.

I own 2 Orra's and love them both. Smooth, nice fit, and priced right! I've always owned Abu Garica products, and currently updating older Abu's with Orra's. You get more for what you pay for, and a reel that will last a lifetime!

I was a quantum man until I bought on of these Orra reels at bass pro last fall. This reel simply outperforms my quantum KVD series reels to the max. I would highly recommend it to anyone...
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love my new orra sx. I am as satisfied with it as much as i am my revo, and it cost half the price... You definately cant go wrong with one.
