I originally got a different reel as a gift but had to take it back, and I found and fell in love with this reel. I fish for a lot of smallmouth and I spend most of that time in the river, so I need a tough reel, and this is perfect. Very smooth casts. I do have one complaint though. It does seem a little rough on retrieve. I put lube in, so we'll see what happens on my first time out. Overall great quality though.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I AM A DIE HARD AG FISHERMAN. I HAVE BEEN USING THE OLD ULTRA MAGS SINCE I WAS A KID AND STILL USE THEM. I WANTED TO TRY OUT A LOW PROFILE REEL SO PICKED UP ONE OF THESE UP. AWESOME. I NOW SEE WHAT I HAVE BEEN MISSING ALL THESE YEARS. THANKS FOR A GREAT PRODUCT AT A GREAT PRICE. THANKS BUCK

"Perfect?" you say... Price point: Check Ergonomics: Check Smooth cast and return: Check I realize that there are "better" reels than this, but from amateur to pro, this reel will accommodate them all. Low-profile design lets me cast all day without being overborne with bulk or weight. This reel is smooth as butter and is, by far, at the top of its class. Thank you AG for making, what I consider, "the perfect reel".
