I just bought one of these Pro Max reels this spring because the Shimano Stradic price has gone out of this world and the last one I bought only lasted a year and a half.... I already own an Ambassadeur C4 6500 and several of the old red Ambassadeurs and love them to death. They are not appropriate for throwing light lures though so I thought I would give this Pro Max a shot and see if it could fill the void in my tackle. Boy was I surprised. This reel does it all. I spooled it with 8 pound test and it will cast 1/6oz lures a mile. It is simply amazing. I have yet to backlash the adjustments are such that you can tighten the spool WAAAAY down and it will still throw a light lure forvever. I caught a 4 pound bass yesterday and the drag performed flawlessly. Buy one today... buy one for your friends while you are at it. They are only $79 at Wal-Mart!

My very first baitcaster and I'm loving it. Both the drag and retrieve are smooth as butter. It's built like a rock but is very light weight and easy to work with. I don't beileive there is a better deal for this high quality of a reel out there. When I plan on buying another reel it will definitely be another Abu. Thank you Abu for the awsome product.

This reel is amazing. I used it twice so far and once in high wind. It didn't backlash once. It is very smooth. I say it is comparable to many high priced REVO's. If you are a beginner with baitcast reels, I suggest this reel for sure. Another thing I want to mention, it has a clicking spool tension knob! The only other reels that I know have this are lew's and Shimano, Both are super expensive. Good job Abu!
