The Silver Max was my first baitcaster. I didn't have too many backlashes after I got the hang of it. Easy to cast out of my canoe and loved throwing soft plastics with it. Extremely smooth and comfortable. I definitely recommend the silver max, especially for the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Smooth Long casts
Posted June 26, 2013
I bought my Silvermax2 this last weekend. I put Berkley Crystal Fireline 20# test on it and went fishing Saturday afternoon. I was simply amazed at how far I could cast this reel. We were catfishing and I had approx. 1/2 oz weight plus the hook and bait. I could cast farther with this reel than any reel I have ever owned (baitcast or spinning reel)! However the line capacity is a little overstated. The Crystal Fireline 20# is the same diameter as an 8# mono. I put 125 yards on the reel and it was a little too much. I am going to back off some of it.
The casting brake seems very sensitive. You really have to loosen it up when using a light lure. Other than that, I love the reel. I plan on purchasing another one very soon.

This is my 2nd Silver Max in 2 months. The first one did not have the flipping switch so this is an addition which is cool. I would definitely buy a couple more of these as the price is better than the Revo S.
