I love these reels. I had 5 reels and rods stolen from me and have started replacing them. I like the way the Abu Garcia feels, casts.I started with the Black Max and definitely plan on buying more!

i have used the black max since the 1990's and to now. the reel is very easy to use it cast just about any lure in your tackle box has a comfortable feel while fishing with it.it is cheap for the quility of the reel. i would recommend the black max to any one on a budget very,very,very good reel.

Until recently, I had not used the Black Max. With a long family history of using Abu Garcia rods & reels, I wanted to add to my existing equipment but money was an issue. In typical fashion, the Black Max has held up to the Company's fine history.

I have matched the Black Max up with an 7' Abu Garcia Conolon rod and 12lb braid. This combination has proven to be extremely adequate for fishing around docks, brush piles and other close in areas and such (like heavy millfoil & hydrilla).

Dollar for dollar, the value you get can't be beat for it's class!

I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased this reel about 6 months ago its a very good reel,i put it on a 7 foot ambaseuduer rod and it feels excellent!The only down fall i found with it was it started to grind and the brake got pushed in but was easliy fixed by popping the side cover off thanks abu for a great reel!!!

I would recommend this to a friend!

Lake Guntersville is the bomb. I am from there but live somewhere else. I love fishing all of the milfoil in the summer and crappie in the winter. Nice review and planning to get this reel for my b-day. Hopefully. Maybe I might fish the crappie tournament coming up.

I had my black max for 3 years and I caght a lot of big bass and it is smooth as ever.
