2 year review of my Black Max:
The first year it preformed flawlessly, I couldn't have been happier with it.
The end of the second year now and a few things have gone wrong.
#1.) Drag systems started slipping at the beginning of the year. #2.) Anti-reverse has broke.
Two years of tournament fishing has been hard on this reel. I'm still satisfied with my purchase, after all, it IS a $50 reel. Would I buy it again? Nope, I'll save and buy a higher end model and see how it lasts against a tournament trail.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Well, if I was in a tournament, I would definitly buy a more high quality reel. I suggest buying the Quantum Smoke 100, or if you like Abu Garcia, get the Ambbassadeur. You probably fish Kentucky Lake and Guntersville a lot if you do tournaments and both of those perforn excellent. (Especially in the milfoil @ Guntersville)

this reel is smooth casting and holds up to alot of abuse i recomend this product great on a mh 7ft fast action rod

Getting into fishing tournaments, I knew I had to expand my knowledge and become more versitile in my fishing style. Having grown up using nothing but spinning reels I was nervous about trying to use bait cast reels. I have tried them in the past and got nothing except a birds nest on each cast. That all changed when I tried the Black Max by Abu Garcia! The slim design was a perfect fit for my hands and the ease of use and ease of tweaking the casting roller. Pros: slim design great for any cover easy to repair if broken Low cost, great for the angler on a budget con: the only con I had was when I needed a schmetic drawing of the componets they were very hard to read
I would totally suggest this product to any one beginner to experienced angler. you wont be undersold
I would recommend this to a friend!
