I think this reel is worth every penny I spent. It costs a little more, but it is totally amazing. This reel makes for a very good musky and pike reel.

bought c4 6601 love the reel cast great but on the retrieval the reel feels awkward would like too know if there is a power Handle that works on it

I mostly use the reel for salmon and it is an amazing reels for the price. I have the 5601 model. It hold plenty of line, it's retrieves smooth, cast a mile, and the drag is very powerful. I would reel recommend this reel.

Not sure if it's normal or something wrong. The push button is very hard to engage at times. Usually just when releasing it to unhook the lure from the rods hook eye. If there is any stress on the line the button almost needs both thumbs to engage it. It's the only reel I have that does this. It is one of my musky reels so it's on a heavy rod. Thought maybe that was the cause but recently put another reel on the same rod and the button releases with ease even under stress.

I bought the left hand version #5601, since I'm right-handed, so I can simply cast with My right, as I would with a spinning rod/reel, and use My left hand for the retrieve.
It's tough to find a high quality casting reel offering a left handed version, and ABU takes top honors with their superb round casting reels with left or right handed options.
I've owned a few ABU reels prior to the recent purchase of My 5601, and one of those I bought during Summer of 1973. Availability of simple repair parts has kept all of My ABU reels in service to this day, though I only fish occasionally anymore, due to My advancing age.

Abu Garcia offers great options for people for left-handed fisherman. Now only if they'd make a left-handed line counter reel for trolling I'd be set!

I love this reel. I currently have a 6600 and it's just absolutely amazing. I have 40 lb mono in it and I easily cast 70 yds+ on 8ft and 9ft rods. I fish in rivers and lakes for large catfish such as blues and shovel heads or flatheads and it can handle a tough fight. I have not once, nor has my brother, had to take this reel apart due to problems. I have 2 already, so does my brother, and I look forward to getting more in the future. Thanks Abu Garcia!
