I purchased 2 Veritas rods in December 2012 at Bass Pro in Monroe, NC. Last weekend I was retrieving a spinner bait from a low cedar branch, when the tip of my rod came into contact with the limb and snapped without hardly any pressure at all on the tip. I was shocked and disappointed at the same time. To make matters worst I bought another Veritas 7' Mh last night at Gander Mountain in Fayetteville NC before I read all these reviews about breakage others were having. I have retrieved many lures from trees over the 62 years I have been around and this is the first time I have had this happen.. I have been a long time user of Abu Garcia fishing equipment #ambassadors, Revo's, Pro Max, Black Max and silver max#, but I hope I'm not making a mistake with the Veritas>
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello and thanks for reaching out to us. All Veritas rods carry a 3 year warranty so you are covered. V series rods are made out of high modulus graphite which provides excellent sensitivity in a lightweight design. With this in mind it is important to understand that, regardless of rod manufacturer, high modulus graphite will be more susceptible to breakage under a heavy load if it is nicked or dinged or used in an improper manner such as “high sticking” or loading up the tip in a snag situation. These last two actions put the rod at extreme angles and pressure that can cause failure. Older and less expensive rods are typically constructed from composite/fiberglass. While more durable, the level of sensitivity, control and weight pales in comparison to high modulus graphite - think of it as the difference between using a typewriter (i.e. fiberglass/composite) vs. a modern day laptop (i.e. high modulus graphite). If they are cared for properly, you will not experience breakage issues with your high modulus Veritas rods. Simply use care during transport, storage and avoid slinging fish into the boat or high sticking. For snags using any rod, we recommend the following: point the rod tip at the snag and take up the slack by reeling. You should not have any bend in the rod and all the pressure is on the reel. This is the best way to remove snags and not damage your rod. Thanks for reaching out to us and if you ever need to speak with one of our representatives directly, we are here to help at 1.800.228.4272

Broken Veritas Rod
Posted June 13, 2013
I recently broke a 7ft MH Veritas rod that was less than three months old. I contacted Customer Support and was told the procedure for returning the rod for warranty service. Return shipping was going to cost an estimated $42 to send the rod back UPS. ABUGarcia Customer Support work with me and I got my rod replaced without the hassle of returning the rod. Took pictures, explained how the rod broke, sent the information in, my new rod was sent to me. This is what customer service is supposed to be like. Great job and a special thanks to Terry, the nice lady I spoke to finalizing my warrant claim .

We are here to help as all V series rods carry a 3 year warranty. One of our customer service representatives has already been notified about your situation and will reach out to you at the email address that you submitted with this review. We understand your frustration and will work hard to get your issue taken care of so you can get back to fishing. If you ever need to speak to a customer service representative directly over the phone, please call Tel: 1.800.228.4272. A representative will be in contact with you shortly.

Broken Tip, Faulty Rod?!
Posted July 22, 2013
Same thing happened to me.... twice! First time catching a fish, the tip snapped off. The second time, the tip snapped while I was setting the hook on the second guide! Then my neighbour told me his Veritas rod tip broke a few weeks after he had purchased one too! If there appears to be so many issues with breakage, perhaps reconsider the composites and instead manufacture for durability ..... and rod longevity!!!!!!!!
