I bought a 7' spinning combo as an upgrade to one of my lower end soft plastic rods. I have read the mixed reviews and decided to buy one anyway. I have enjoyed it so much. The action is a little stiffer, but sensitivity is great, on soft plastics, small hard bodies and blades it works a treat on bream, redfin, whiting. Using 4lb spider wire and 6/8lb fluoro leader, its great fun. I have an Abu 5000 baitcaster, and M/H action Morrum rod for barra I have used for 10 years, and its still going strong with no issues. I am considering buying a 6'6" Veritas and using 2lb ghost line just to see how it goes on bream!

I would recommend this to a friend!

Last March I was fishing Lake Fork with a new Veritas 7' MH and Silver Max reel. The line suddenly went to the left and I set the hook with the line at a 45 deg. angle to the rod tip.

As soon as I did the rear reel seat on the rod broke and the reel flew off the rod. I instinctively grabbed for the reel with my left hand as it headed for the water and kept the rod in my right, grabbing the slack line in my fingers.

Lucky catch...caught the reel, dropped it on the deck, pulled the line in by hand still holding the rod and put that 6 pounder in the boat.

I just purchased a new SX reel and Vendetta rod for another trip to Lake Fork. I did notice on the new rod that the reel seat has been changed to a flexible rubber mounting, were the Veritas is a hard plastic. Is there anyway to replace the reel seat on the Veritas rod or properly repair it?

Other than this one problem, my experience with Abu Garcia products has been excellent. I still use my first big round 'Red' rod & reel that I bought in 1994.

I like just about everything with this rod except for the reel seat. After a few dozen casts, the reel always feels like it want to come loose from the rod., If the reel seat wasnt a problem I would not just like the Veritis I would LOVE IT. Its comfortable, light and extreamly sensitive. Fix the reel seat and i would give it 5 stars.
