I recently purchased one of the 6'9" MH micro guided casting rods and I LOVE IT. It is practically weightless. I've gone fishing for striper with it and it handled this little 5 pounder like he was nothing(also using an abu 4600C4). Also, it is sensitive enough to feel the little taps on the end of your line from a largemouth less than half a pound. I absolutely love my veritas and plan on buying a few more. Abu Garcia has earned my loyalty to their products.

I bought three of these all med. heavy. About the tenth cast my plug hung a floating limb. I was just reeling it in and the rod shattered about 14" from the tip. I not only lost a rod, but had to pay 25 bucks for rplacement rod.

Sorry to hear you had an issue with your Veritas rod. All V series rods carry a 3 year warranty and we will be happy to take care of your case. One of our customer service representatives will reach out to you at the email address that you submitted with this review to learn more about your case and the $25 replacement cost that you incurred. We only require $9.95 to cover return shipping. If you ever need to contact us over the phone, our customer service department can be reached at Tel: 1.800.228.4272.

Veritas rods are made out of high modulus graphite which provides excellent sensitivity in a lightweight design. With this in mind it is important to understand that, regardless of rod manufacturer, high modulus graphite will be more susceptible to breakage under a heavy load if it is nicked or dinged or used in an improper manner such as “high sticking” which may have occured in your case. This action can put the rod at extreme angles and pressure that can cause failure. Older and less expensive rods are typically constructed from composite/fiberglass. While more durable, the level of sensitivity, control and weight pales in comparison to high modulus graphite - think of it as the difference between using a typewriter (i.e. fiberglass/composite) vs. a modern day laptop (i.e. high modulus graphite). If they are cared for properly, you will not experience breakage issues with your high modulus Veritas rods. Simply use care during transport, storage and avoid slinging fish into the boat or high sticking. We are here to help and want you to have a great experience on the water. We understand your frustration and will work hard to take care of your issue. Have a great day and we will be in touch with you shortly.

If you want a rod that has an excellent price point, will do the job well in most fishing applications without breaking the bank, then invest in a Veritas rod. I have almost every model of Veritas. I use both spinning and casting and I fish them aggressively and do-not baby them. I can easily say without any hesitation, Veritas for the money is a great weekend fishermen rod. I would fish pro events as well with a Veritas rod, Yes, rods do exist that are lighter, more sensitive and maybe a bit more flashy. You also pay double the price and with todays economy, this is the rod to put in the boat. Great rod for the buck.....

I purchased a 7' medium Veritas in the hopes of finding a new light weight and durable rod. I was wrong. I have had two new rods crack while casting a light bass bait. Both cases involved a light cast with the rod breaking in the same place. This should not happen with 2 $100 dollar rods. I keep up my equipment very well, washing and inspecting them after every use. I would not recomend buying this rod but i do love Abu Garcias reels. I own 5 of their reels and have not had a problem with any of them.
