I was a little uneasy about buying a veritas rod due to alot of the poor reviews I've seen on here and on tackle warehouse referring to random rod breakages. I got one, the flipping stick and I love it and it has put in some serious work in some serious slop. So I buy another one, the 7' winch model. I took it fishing last week and used it ripping shallow cranks through hydrilla. I went out today and with my first cast (using the this rod and a KVD 1.5,) the rod broke on the cast. The breakage was about 4 inches from the tip. I'm hoping that Abu had a bad run of rods or something because its hard to get past how light and sensitive these rods are and the price is a bonus. My flipping stick performs like a 275.00 rod. I'm scared to buy another one but I would still recommend it. Disappointed is the best word. I'm still an Abu guy, I just hope that this is more of an isolated incident.

Good afternoon - Sorry to hear you had an issue with your Veritas rod as what you describe is certainly not normal. From what you have detailed here, it sounds as though the rod was nicked or damaged during shipping or on shelf, ultimately causing the failure that you experienced. We are here to help & all V series rods carry a 3 year warranty. One of our customer service representatives has already been notified about your situation and will reach out to you at the email address that you submitted with this review. We understand your frustration and will work hard to get your issue taken care of so you can get back to fishing. If you ever need to speak to a customer service representative directly over the phone, please call Tel: 1.800.228.4272. A representative will be in contact with you shortly.

The Winch Rod
Posted December 20, 2012
I was so pleased with my two Veritas Spinning Rods that I purchased a 7 ft. Medium Winch Rod, and it is a pleasure to use it when cranking for largemouth bass. It is so light weight I can cast it repeatedly thorough the day,and its action is so responsive that it does not rip hooks from the fish’s mouths.

I have had an awesome experience with my veritas spinning rod had it for 2 years without any problems however i bought a baitcast version that I've only had it for about 10 months and the tip guide insert fell out during a tournament. I've rigged it to where i can still use it but id rather just get it replaced soon any help would be great

I now have 2 of these rods and am looking to get a cast one as well.
I have a 2-4 kg 7" that I use for soft plastics chasing flat head and whiting matched with an Orra S20 with 6lb Fins that I landed a 8kg Stingray with the other day so that tells you something about this rod.
My other one is a 5-9kg with an Orra S40 that I have caught 1m Barra and 7kg Snapper on no worries.
Highly Recommended.

This rod is a steel!! I own the 7'6 MH casting rod and it is AMAZING. The sensitivity is outstanding, and this rod is very durable. I would recommend this rod to anyone. The particular action I have has a ton a backbone and a stiff tip. Buying my second one.
