We were fishing 1 night for mangrove jacks Using this rod I didn't catch any jack that night but i managed to bring in a 13kg 115cm Jew fish, the rod was verturly bent head to toe the whole time. I was thinking this is going to snap but after 45+ min finally landed the fish 1 of the best fights on light gear Iv had, it took 3 rums to recover. This rod is still bringing in big fish with no problems I'm replacing all my rods with these The other good thing about these rod are that they are white which makes it so much easyer to see at night
I would recommend this to a friend!

sorry i have always belived in abu garcia but i will now stick with only the reels love them the rods don't hold up and i do take good care of my fishing stuff

Veritas rod guides breaking

I own 3 Veritas VRS69-4 rods and have found the rod great to use. They are light weight, well balanced and have great sensitivity. Out of the 3 rods I have all of them with broken rod guides. One rod had the largest eye break off at the rod, a second rod has the largest eye support bracing break and a third rod has the second largest eye support bracing break. I admit I fish these rods a lot, but they are all less than 1 - 2 years old. I have never broken an eye guide in the past and have been fishing for well over 40 years. It appears the eye material being used is not of very good quality. I hope that Abu Garcia takes a look at this problem and fixes the issue as I do really like using these rods and have recommended this rod to several of my friends. I guess the worst of all of this is that I have a 1 year old Pfluger Supreme XT reel that the anti reverse switch broke today.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Has a real Achilles Heel, but worth a look?

While this rod is fantastic in some areas is has one true Achilles Heel. This is the best fishing rod for sensitivity and just plain catching fish that I have personally ever used, but in less than 1 year I have had the rod break the largest line guide twice. The first time the local shop replaced the entire rod and after just fishing three more times it happened again. I am too embarrassed to even take it back to the local shop for fear of being the guy with the issues! I actually tonight thought perhaps I am doing something wrong but then I realized that I have never broken a guide in 30 years of fishing prior to the Veritas. I stood there looking at 5 other setups I take with me everywhere the Veritas goes and none of them have issues. I just got through recommending this rod to several people at a fishing tournament two weeks ago and now worried that they will have the same issue.
These guides seem weak but I think with great sensitivity and light weight rods come some issues. I hope Abu will fix this on the Veritas rod because I like fishing with it even if it has to be a bit heavier. Even if they are willing to repair/replace it, I'm sure it will be after jumping through hoops as most warranty issues are. This is great rod when it is in one piece and I think a platform that Abu is going to learn a lot from. I'm pulling for you on fixing this issue in the design of the rod, and despite the issues I love it and wish I could have given it five stars. Now I just need advice on what I have to do to get it fixed and pray it isn't too much a challenge!
