i had a 6'6 baitcasting rod and broke it on the second trip out. I was using a texas rig and went to set the hook and about 3 foot down the rod it just snapped in half
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Between Veritas and Vendettas, I now own 9 Abu Garcia rods. All are paired with either SX or STX Revos. I prefer 7'3" and 7'6" MH for the style of fishing I do. They are in their 2nd and 3rd seasons. I "fun" fish and fish local club tourneys. I take care of my equipment, but by no means baby it. Like others, I have broken one rod tip and also had a guide slide out from the epoxy. AG replaced my broken rod very quickly and I repaired the guide myself. I can't say anything was faulty with the rods, as it wasn't their first trip on the water. I use braid with a belly-bruising hookset, and the drag/brake are as tight as they go. Things get roughed up in the boat and I've broken other brands in the past as well. If all goes the same, I see no reason to look elsewhere for my next rods. Looks, Price, and Dependability.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have the 7' 6" Veritas and I love it. I have it paired with the Lews Tournament Pro and its perfect. I just got another one today. I was worried abot its strength after reading some of the other reviews but they must have gotten damaged rods. Ive actually swung 3 to 4 pound fish in the boat with no problems. The only reason it got average in craftsmanship was some of the eyes are poorley finished, but very sturdy cosmetic only. You wont go wrong.
I would recommend this to a friend!

like many others, the tip of my rod broke off the very first time pressure was put on it. It was within 24 hours of the purchase. It was a 6'6'' Medium baitcasting rod. I had a 3/4 lb. bass on the line. He was just a little fish. It broke in two places as soon as he pulled the line tight. (Not even hard.)
The local store i bought it from took it back to send it back to you. Hopefully it will get fixed.
I was disappointed with this rod. It felt great in my hand. It was light and sensitive beyond belief. However, it did not last.
I do believe this was a lemon. Many other people have liked this rod. Maybe I will get it back and it will be better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is Ben, the original reviewer. The store I bought it from replaced the product. Said sorry, they didnt do it faster. This rod is awesome. I'm glad that Abu Garcia can produce a rod of this quality at this price.
I'm even more excited that they have dealers that care about the products they sell. Couldn't be more satisfied.
BTW: I am convinced that it was a shipping error because this new rod is great.
