Just tying on a crankbait on my 6'6" medium veritas and about 8 inches broke off the tip of the rod. It breaks my heart too because I LOVED this rod. Not sure what to think now. From reading these reviews it sounds like this problem is not uncommon with these rods. Skeptical on how another one will work out for me. Buy at your own risk.

Fishing jig, set hook, huge snap, during tournament too! Love feel and look of rod, gonna send back for replacement and try again, hope it doesn't break again, probably be done with AG rods if it does. This is the first and only rod I have ever broke while fishing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Broke Veritas Rod
Posted June 8, 2011
The line forms behind me . My 7 ' MH rod broke on June 5, 2011. I got the rod for Christmas and it instantly became my favorite. It broke setting the hook while jig fishing also. The company where the rod was purchased from has said that they will replace it with a receipt. I hope that the replacement doesn't break.

I purchased the Veritas 6'9'' spinning rod to use for shakeyhead fishing and was pleased with my purchase for about 3 months until I set the hook on a 12'' largemouth and it broke about 6'' down on the rod. I lost the receipt so there $100 down the drain the next rod I buy will have a lifetime warranty that you can take back to the retailer with or without the receipt. I see now why these rods don't have a lifetime warranty.

I bought a 7' MH and matched up with a Revo STX. 1st time out fishing snapped the top 8" off the rod setting a hook on a 2# bass (1st caught fish with this rod). I was very disappointed, but fortunately Gander Mtn. took it back and replaced with new the next day. I have taken my new rod out twice now with good preformance. I am concerned that these might not be as good as they are promoted but I will have to live with it now. I also bought the extended warranty from Gander after I returned the first rod so I don't have to ship to AG should I have more issues. I guess I'm glad to see others had the same problem and hopefully AG will work this flaw out because I really like their products. I wouldn't be honest if I didn't tell you my friend has one and it has been perfect to date. Hopefully this is just a matter of a bad batch of blanks, instead of sacrificing durability for a lighter higher modulus blank!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
