This rod is excellent. It is light weight, has excellent sensitivity, and a good backbone. Best rod in the $100 price range.

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to field test a Veritas VRC66-5 rod since Jan 2010. In that full fishing season, the rod was used for a variety of different techniques and using several different line tests and excelled in each.
It had the sensitivity to detect subtle bites using Japanese style finesse baits. It possessed the power to fight and control fish up to 5 lbs without failure. It was able to cast light, aerodynamically challenged, light and flat crankbaits with ease.
It passed each test with flying colors.

I received this rod three weeks ago, and given that I live in the land of ice and snow, it'll be a while before I can test it on the water. That said, the purpose of this review is to speak to some of the issues and concerns I've occasionally seen raised on the 'net.
My initial interest is in the fit and finish of the rod. I am very pleased that the rod appears to be very well assembled. The epoxy is evenly applied around the guides, and the guides themselves are straight and aligned, just as you would expect. The appearance of the rod is great.
I have read reports of t the reel seat sticking, and having tried a few different reels on it, I don't think this is going to be a problem.
It holds securely, and is easy to remove the reel, contrary to some early reports I have seen.
This is a very striking rod, appearance-wise. I like the white and the graphics; There will be no mistaking the rod when out in the boat!
The last point I'd like to make, which is a preliminary observation, is that the rod seems to have real backbone. I'll be throwing larger cranks with this rod, a purpose for which I'm sure it'll be well-suited.
Hopefully, I can follow up with an on the water report come the spring, I can't wait to try this rod out!

I have a 7 ft cranking rod and a 6'9" spinning rod for finnese fishing and love them both. Planning on getting a 7'3" MH veritas for flipping and a 7' spinning veritas this week to add to the collection. Also going to pick up another Revo sx for the 7'3" and considering a Revo or Soron spinning reel for the other rod. Love your stuff!
