I purchased the 7'3" MH/M rod because I wanted a rod that was parabolic from Abu Garcia. Other makes in the Abu Garcia line-up are not offering this action in their rods. With that being said the minute I opened the rod from it's package I was impressed by the way this rod swayed. Within fifteen minutes I was at the river fishing this rod trying every lure and bait I could within twenty cast (with each lure). But the reason I am writing this review is because the strength and strike sensitivity this rod offers. From first glance the rod looks to thin to be a MH but then looks can be decieving. I swing two to four pounders (smallmouth's) up from a 20 to 30 foot drop "easily". It's actually quite a shock and I don't know why I even tried it in the first place since I only had the rod for a day at the time. Since then I have been on vacation fishng this rod thoroughly with every bait I can as long as I can. This rod excels with just about every lure but I recomend staying within it's lure ratings. I especially like the hook-up ratio when fishing a crankbait. Bass will bite and automatically the rod flex's and the hook sets "A GREAT FEELING" with this moderate action rod. The negative about this rod is contact sensitivity and quality. Knowing what your lure is contacting on the bottom can be hard to recognize. The quality of the product is there but lacking, my bottom eva handle around the but cap came loose while casting chaterbaits. It now twirls around the rod intefering with my accuracy when I grab it and make my casts.
If that piece had not come loose the craftsmanship score would have been a little higher. Also I find it hard to recommend a product that cost $90 if pieces are coming loose. If Abu Garcia will replace this product then it would be a $100 dollar investment and contact sensitivity is just not there for the money their asking for this rod. I checked yes for recommending this product but I'm really not sure.

I had used this rod for maybe 6 hours total, landed a 4 lb largemouth and a 2 lb largemouth back to back. I love the action and sensitivity of this rod. However, two casts later it snapped on the cast about 14" from the tip. I was heartbroken and a little disappointed, but i'm om my second one now. Giving it another shot.

Yes I prefer this $80 rod over the $100 and $140 models. Why? The grip/trigger on the casting models is in my opinion more comfortable than the other two. I just don't like a curved trigger, they tend to get in the way and after a lot of casts causing pain and irritation. The Vendetta trigger fits smoothly. If you can't try them at the store just take a look in the catalog and you will see what I mean. I also think this is the best looking rod of the three.
