bought two of these rods, one spinning and one casting for my black max and my orra s. both great reels by the way! second cast with the spinning reel the rod broke in two with very little effort. this rod was never abused, closely inspected when taken out of the package, and broke in the first 3 minutes on the water. i have always been a very loyal abu garcia customer and had great success with their products, even ones with bad reviews. that is why, despite the numerous bad reviews of this rod, I chose to give abu garcia the benefit of the doubt. I was mistaken this time. despite all of this I still consider myself very loyal to the brand and would like to keep my two new abu garcia reels on abu garcia rods. Those who read this please understand, this is NOT a bad review of the manufacturer as a whole, just this one product. i have seen other customer reviews mention paying the difference for an upgrade. if it's possible i would like to go that route as well since the numerous bad reviews and my own experience won't allow me to trust another vengeance spinning rod.
this is just my personal opinion but i feel the gross failure of this rod is due to the guides cutting into the blank. my rod broke right at the top edge of the guide foot, which on inspection has a fairly sharp edge sitting right against the blank. with it being a spinning rod, naturally as you put any forward bend on the rod the guide could easily cut into the blank and cause a failure. my baitcasting rod naturally bends the other way in relation to the guides when fighting a fish but should i worry about it snapping on the back stroke of my cast? it'll always be in the back of my head now...
***the vengeance baitcasting rod i have has held up just fine in my practice but we will see how it handles long casts with heavy lures, a hook set, and a lively fish.

bought this rod on impulse because it was a good deal on an abu gacia product, which has always come through for me. i got home and checked the reviews and was worried that it might snap on me. i took it out today and caught a few crappie and a couple bass on a tube jig and bobber. the action of the rod was really nice and gave a good pop to the bobber. i was bank fishing and brought them up fine i just used a dip net. setting the hook was no problem and didnt add too much tension to the rod. i dont see how it would snap easily unless your setting you hook on a sunken tree and trying to yank it out thinking its a fish. i would recomend this product fo the sensitivity and action, if anything the three year waranty is worth it

Got the Ultra Light for crappie fishing, loved it, but at some point during the first day I used it as I set the hook it just broke in two peices. I reeled the fish in, was just a 10" crappie. Was disappointed to say the least. The action and feel of this rod is superior to other higher priced ones, just hated to see it break. Hope the warranty is as good as they say.

Bought this rod at the bassmaster classic (little over a month ago). Went fishing the other evening and everything was working fine until i snapped the rod in half on a cast. Not on a hookset but a cast! Thats what i get for buying the cheaper rod. I wonder if I could just send it back and pay the difference and upgrade to the veritas. We shall see
