I bought the Premier yesterday and began to catch fish with it today. I paired it with a 7' medium Veritas along with 10lb flourocarbon and it is a casting animal! I'm chuckin' lures to the moon and dragging hogs back in. The drag is amazing on this thing! I started my baitcasting arsenal with a Black Max a couple years ago and have moved to a Revo SX then to a Revo STX and finally have a Premier with all the Revos being on Veritas rods. Couldn't be happier!

I own 9 Abu reels and I love everyone of them 7 are Revos I have a 1st gen premier and I'm still using it today the durability of these reels is second to none. I recently purchased the 3rd gen STX and as I expected I love it. If you dont own any Revos I highly suggest you go out and get some. ABU FOR LIFE!!!

i had experienced during casting my thumb bar for premier generation 3 is stuck repeatly..
so sad..i also has mgx 7:9:1,its never happened..
for my enquiry,why its happen and how to repair it.
any else its goods..is that because material during heavy use?

To fix the thumb bar issue

Put oil or lube on the sides where the thumb bar goes up and down, once it's on, slide the thumb bar up and down and just keep doing it until it's fixed. I had this problem with 2 of my 3rd gen revos. And this fixed both of my reels. I hope that helps all of you guys!

I just got my new Abu Garcia Premier in the mail and for some reason the brake system dial is stuck and won't budge. I am overseas in the military and waited a while to get the reel in the mail just to get one with a stuck brake system dial. I looked at the instructions to see if there was something I was missing as to why the dial would not move but saw nothing. Did I just get a dud reel?? I am very disappointed as I was really looking forward to using this reel soon in Korea but looks like it's not going to happen. I used to use Abu Garcia reels 20 years ago but kept having problems with the reels falling apart quickly so I changed brands. I wanted to give them another shot as I had heard good things about the Revo reels but again I have bad luck with Abu Garcia. Please advise if I'm doing something wrong as I have never had this issue with any of my other reels.

I just purchesed a Revo3 Premier and I am absolutly blown away!! I made the transition from spinning to baitcasting with the the Revo S-L over the summer, and I loved it so much that after 4 months I up graded to the Revo SX-L. I was really impressed, everything I loved about the Revo S was made WAY better in the SX! It really took my fishing to the next level. Knowing now how amazing the SX was, I decided to step up to the Premier, and it was the even more incredible than I thought it would be! This 3rd generation of Revo's are turely amazing, if you don't own one... you need to! The Revo Premier is by far the lightest, smoothest, and all around most amazing reel I have ever fished!
Point is.....if your still fishing a spinning reel because you like to reel with your left hand, do your self a favor; go get a left handed Revo, and prepair your self to be amazed!!

Every thing I could hope for in a casting reel! I just bought a Premier today as a Xmas gift to myself and it's flat out awesome! Smooth power and light! WoW! It's really worth a try, you won't be disappointed!

i love abu garciai bought this reel for my birthday it is amazing, i also got the stx but that nowhere near matches the premier. the only thing i can find wrong with it is that the casting is just a little sticky... i have oiled it but it still remains sticky. but other than that i looooove this reel

I use this reel for King's, Coho and Chum Salmon I search for monsters fish. It held up and whooped a decent size king 25-30lbs without issue smooth drag and casting and smooth reeling ( gears) caught plenty of Coho mostly 6-10lbs Chum season it coming up then it will be put to a hard test... I love to low low profile as I fish with my finger on the line before the reel. it helps my hand from getting what I like to call the claw hand effect. All around real happy with the reel...
I switched out all my Low Pro reels to the revo series from having all Shimano Curado E series... Biggest seller for me was the ability to cast very light weights a long distance..

I purchase the Revo Premier 2011 version because it was the top of the line Revo. On one of my fishing trips the windage adjustment dial broke off, rendering my reel useless. Fortunately, it was still under warranty and had it repaired.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I would just like to start off by saying i love ABU Garcia! but i have had a problem with a few of my reels (unfortunatly with all of my expensive reels- MGX- PRM) They sent me back my MGX no problems at all and their customer service is phenominal! I recently bought the PRM a few weeks ago and i was disapointed at the casting, it would make a loud noise 3 out of 5 casts. Also, the cast control know would not click when i was adjusting it, like on my MGX. I took it off and the parts were not sealed in properly. I just sent it back today with the recipt and hopefully i will get it fixed/replaced. I go to Arkansas Tech University (ATU) and im on the fishing team. After i get out of college i hope to be a pro and i will be repping ABUs the whole time! Love your reels and rods keep up the great work! ABU for LIFE

I do love this reel & hope I just have a bad one, when I have a good size fish on the reel slips. Abu Garcia please let me know how to fix this or should I send it back for a new one as it is still under warranty, I would like to buy a few more but I'm consern about this problem

I purchased 4 of the Premiers because of listening to others talking about how great they are.
These reels don't cast far.
I have several other types of Revos and other brands that will cast over twice the distance than these Premiers.

We are sorry to hear about your casting issue with your Premier as this is not normal. The Revo Premier is outfitted with a Infinitely Variable Centrifugal Braking system that is specifically designed to cast a wide variety of baits. The IVCB braking system has 28 settings of braking power adjusted by the exterior dial. It sounds like you were casting a lighter lure and applied too much braking power. Next time your on the water, spend a couple of minutes adjusting the dial to fine-tune your cast. However, all Abu Garcia reels carry a one year warranty. i've been using PRM (upgraded to ceramic orange seal ABEC 7) for about 2 years. PRM performed flawlessly with its casting, pitching and landing ability. with an one eighth of ounce lure I was able to barely pitch to a distance of about twenty feet using 30lb braided line. Everything I was hoping to my reel, PRM delivers- good line capacity, excellent casting and pitching performance, a strong smooth drag, ergonomics, and tough construction. as the conclusion-don't waste ur money spending on expensive reel offering in the market which is PRM (much more cheaper) has it all. try it and i bet u wont regret, cheers!!

I'm hoping I got a bad one. Been using this reel for about a month now and I am just not satisfied with it. I watch others using their premiers and they have none of the problems that I do.
Casting performance sub par, I think I adjusted it correctly and even using heavier weight baits just doesn't cast that far for me, but I have seen other who have the premier cast a lot further than I can.
My gears now grind and rattle occasionally, while reeling i don't know what it is, but I don't think its supposed to make any noises
Only good thing I can say about this reel so far is that it fits well in my hand and the drag works pretty well, able to fight big fish with it carp and sturgeon
Had it paired with a 7ft MH Verdict which snapped during a battle with a huge sturgeon, rod was awesome until that happened

I recently bought 2 Abu Garcia Revo PRM. I had BPS Johnny Morris Elite, but wanted to upgrade to more drag and better casting. I paired these with a G Loomis Salmon rod SAMR1265C. The best combonation I have ever had. I carp fish for the big fight and I have to say even a 20lb carp can't out do these combonations. It almost takes the fun out of the fight. The drag is smooth, they are sooooo light, and casting is amazing! I measured my average casts with my old reels and these and I get 35' farther with these reels! I also do some bass fishing and u can adjust these from a heavy 4oz for carp to just a plastic worm for bass and cast farther and better than ever before. Although I will say for strickly bass fishing the MGX my father-in-law is better. The only thing I wish they did different was to put a lube port on these like the MGX. Just makes it more convient to maintain. That's the only reason for 4 stars on maintenance. Other wise perfect reels for anyone! Espically someone like me that is prone to bird nests and wants to cast as far as possible! They don't backlash once adjusted!!

i love to buy fishing gear, reels are no exception. ever since i tried the premier i have been looking to buy more reels and everything comes below par. the smoothness of the retrieve and drag system in the reel is unbelievable, I now own 2 premiers and am very happy with them. just bought the Revo MGX and i am quite eager to try it out! lets see if ABU GARCIA has yet again risen the bar! the only reason i gave it 4 stars for maintenance is because it doesnt have the small compartment near the handle to oil the reel (found in other revos and orra series).
