Compared to the other mid-priced spin-cast combos, this is better quality and more durable. I bought several of these for a kids' camp, and even the younger kids with no fishing experience could use them without difficulty. The older kids who had fished before really loved them. Haven't had any birds' nests to deal with either. Be careful with the rods, though, we did break a tip.
