As an avid user of Steez reels, the MGX blew me away! It outperforms Steez in every aspect. It's lighter, smoother, more adjustable, and even looks better! On my last trip, I was able to cast lures from 1/8 to 1 oz. with these reels with ease. The adjustability makes for few backlashes, even in the wind. The lightweight adds to the sensitivity of a quality lightweight rod, increasing feel and ultimately hookups. No sacrifice of power was made for the weight, either. The drag is exceptionally smooth, and has the guts to winch 'em out of cover. The MGX has definitely raised the standard for quality lightweight reels. I ordered 3 more today.

I was lucky enough to win one of these from Abu Garcia in the review a product sweepstakes. After a long week of eagerness to try it out, I was able to fish with it this past Saturday. WOW... The first thing that jumps out of you is the matte black finish and the absolute weightlessness of this reel, unreal! The comforatable new reel grips that come standard feel great and add to the asthetic appeal and the overall reduction in weight. (Dont get me wrong, I love my oversized grips on my other Revos!) After proper adjustment I was able to focus on the performance. Four casts in, a thump on the rod and the MGX was put to the test, FLAWLESS. The drag system is what you expect from Abu Garcia, smooth and powerful. The MGX casts like a dream and is over all the best reel I have ever had the pleasure of owning and using. Although tournament season is over here in Iowa, I know I have the upper hand come April when we begin the 2012 season. Its everything youve come to know and love about the Revo line of reels, but this is Revo at its best!

a very good reel in a sense of appearance , performance and price. IVCB braking system in MGX is a brilliant innovation thus a backlash is almost impossible to be happened. work well with a light lure/bait which is i can casting it for a distance with no prob even in a windy condition. please dont hesitate to have MGX if u r looking for a new reel. i bet u'll stick with MGX if u have one! :)
I love this reel cant wait for warmer weather so i can really put it to the test.

Yesterday I was practicing with one of the Pros for a FLW tournament on Lake Guntersville. We were discussing the fact that both of us used REVO reels because of their quality and dependability. He asked if I had tried the new Revo MGX yet, I told him I had not and he handed me the one he was casting....I couldn't believe how little it weighed, how small it was, how far I could cast the bait and how smooth the retrieve was! I was instantly hooked! You have outdone yourself with the MGX...far and away the best baitcasting reel ever! Charlie e

Abu Garcia hit a home run with this reel. It’s light, smooth and casts like a dream. I can’t wait to pair it up with the Villain. A lean, mean fish catching machine.
