sure it will cost some money, but it is more than well worth it! It is the lightest, best feeling in my hand , and best casting reel I have ever used, not to mention it is a very attractive reel, also.this reel is much stronger than it is advertised to be. the 7.9 to1 that I own handles the powerful runs that stripers produce with a smooth drag and the speed to keep the pressure on when they head straight for you.

The first time I used this reel i didnt know if i would like it because it almost felt too light. But after about 10 minutes i fell in love with it. I picked up my old Curado and it felt like a brick in my hand. The MGX fits perfectly to your hand, it's 9 bearings make for super smooth, effortless reeling. This reel also had better drag than i expected for such a light reel. Great reel will definitely buy another one soon for my upcoming summer tournament tour.

MY two 7.1 MGX's paired with Veritas rods reinforce yet again my opinion, ever since I bought a 5000A in 1965, that ABU Garcia make the best all-round fishing reels. I am able to cast 1.8th oz finesse worms into the wind with no problems at all. The ergonomics are excellent especially as I have a serious problem with carpal tunnel syndrome and find it difficult to use some other brands of reels. I have no doubt the MGX's will hold up to years of service just as my original 5000 continues to be used regularly by a friend.

I got this reel a couple of days ago. and i took it out on the water that day and i was so impressed. it casted so far, its the smoothest reel i have owned. its high speed, and i was hauling bass out of cover really fast. at 5.4 ounces it fitted my hand so well.
