I've had some recent experiences with the baitcasting end of the Villain rod series and thought it time to share my experiences with one of the spinning rods, specifically the Villain VLS610-5. There are 3 features I would like to focus to start. The hook-keeper, the reel seat and the EVA grips.
The hook-keeper is perfectly placed on the under side of the blank just a bit forward of reel foot. I don't know about you but I place my thumb on the top side of the blank just a bit above the fore grip and it would get very annoying after a while. I would wind up using side cutters and removing it, voiding the warranty in the process. The price one pays for comfort. Thanks Abu for perfect placement.
Secondly, the reel seat. The ergonomic design is the most comfortable I've ever used. It fits my palm perfectly, similar to any good hand tool. I don't worry about slippage or movement unless I want my hand to move.
Finally, the EVA grip material. Rain began to fall during my last trip but the bass were biting and I wasn't leaving. The texture of the grip didn't get slippery at all and I remained in control. The material was supple without being flimsy or soft.
Again, the little things added up to a whole lot.
I use this rod for both small shad shaped crankbaits and wacky worming with 8lb Berkley 100% flourocarbon line. The strike detection capabilities are excellent and also gives good feedback regarding structure and cover in the area being fished. The MF taper provides for good control over your baits and over fish during the fight.
I used this rod with the Revo Premier 30 spinning reel.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am a professional Fishing Guide and Pro Bass Angler on the PAA tournament series. The Villain series is my choice of rods when it comes to my clients, or my self putting fish in the boat. It dose not mater if the bite is light or aggressive, in thick cover or open water, you can feel the bite, because they are extremely sensitive, light weight, and strong. When fishing a tournament, when money is on the line or on guided trips I only use the best. I highly recommend the Villain series rods to any angler that is serious about fishing, and serious about there gear.

Spinnerbaits? Sure! Light and medium duty pitchin'? Not a problem! Jerkbaits and Texas rigs? Certainly! Shallow cranks? Yup! It's true, shallow water crankbaits!
Long casts parallel to lily pad fields and along fallen trees. Through brush piles and by riprap without breaking a sweat or line and bringing the bass to the boat.
The medium-heavy action and fast taper were a killer combination for tossing many JDM crankbaits and working them back. This rod possesses the sensitivity to read the structure and the power to set the hook deep into the bass. It's not so stiff that it rips the hooks out. Great backbone to control the fish during the fight.
Why not choose a rod that does many things well and sacrifices nothing? That's sense. That's value. That's Villain!

I just have to thank you for producing such an outstanding rod and reel. I just got back from fishing in Florida with my new Villain Rod and MGX reel. The Villain is the most versatile rod I have every fished! It performed perfect in many different fishing situations. I am using the 7'1 med heavy casting rod. Worm fishing a 1 pound fish felt like a train hit the bait. And the speed of the MGX reel allowed me to get the fish out of the saw grass without a problem. It worked the same for the 6 pounders also! Next I used the Villain and MGX for a hollow body swimbait fishing. There is just the right amount of tip for casting the bait and enough backbone to control the fish in the grass. I was using Berkley 100% fluorocarbon 20 pound for the worm and swimbait. I then changed to Big Game Braid and took the setup frog fishing. Again the setup worked perfectly for frogging also. I plan on obtaining several more of these rods and reels. I recommend these products to everyone you will not be disappointed..
Thanks,
Peter
