I picked up a winch last year for crankbaits. I was new to baitcasting and the winch threw light and heavy crankbaits like a dream. I recommend to everyone.

In my opinion this is one of the Best reels in the world. The easiest casting reel you can put in your hand and definitely the smoothest. I have had my Winch for over a year now and it has become my favorite. It shows it's true colors this time of year when I'm out throwing 6xd's and DD22. It can be so tiring cranking them big crankbaits all day long but with the Winch it saves my arms for doing yard work the next day. The big handle and the big brass gear inside contribute to the less fatigue factor when throwing those baits. Also you can actually get the big crankbaits down to where they are suppose to be because it will sling a 3/4oz crankbait 40 to 55 yards without sling your shoulder out. If your like me I research all of my fishing purchases and I researched this purchase just like all the rest and what really made my mind up for this purchase is that there was review after review of Shimano guys using this reel and giving it 5 stars. So research your purchase and you will find what I found long time Shimano Guys buying this reel.

It will backlash on you-- some-- but it's not the worse by far. This reel excels at the Winch aspect for sure. You can toss big lipped crank baits all day long and not have the arm fatigue and aching elbow you get using other reels. It just takes far less effort to pull a bait through the water. Buzzbaits are a major challenge with this reel, though, and there you have the reason for having several different reels ready to go.

I have 3 of the Revo Winch reels, these are perfect for crank baits and slower rolling spinnerbaits. Love these reels wish I more of them. They are almost impossible to back lash, very smooth and strong. Great Reel
